I am the Lord of the Double Wand of Power; the wand of the Force of Coph Nia--but my left hand is empty, for I have crushed an Universe; & nought remains. -- Liber AL vel Legis 3:72

Coph Nia: A Mystical Gathering for Gay and Bisexual Men

Why is this event called Coph Nia?

Coph Nia is a mystical gathering of gay and bisexual men organized and sponsored by the Ordo Aeternus Vovin, a Thelemic, cerermonial magickal order for gay and bisexual men. "Coph Nia" comes from The Book of Law by Aleister Crowley, one of the sacred books of Thelema. While there are many ideas and explanations of what "Coph Nia" means, the one we prefer is that by using gematria, a system of numerology, the name "Coph Nia" equals 831. The Greek word "Phallos" also equals 831. So we're celebrating the "wand of the force of the phallus". An approporiate name for a gathering of gay men.

Coph Nia is a 5 day outdoor nature spirituality festival for gay, bi, queer and questioning men. Held at a clothing optional, private campground near French Lick, Indiana, Coph Nia is open to long-time practitioners and new seekers of a wide range of spiritual paths including Wicca, Paganism, Heathenry, Druidism, Shamanism, Thelema, Ceremonial Magick and more. Sponsored by the Ordo Aeternus Vovin, an initiatory Thelemic order for gay and bisexual men, Coph Nia features vendors, concerts, rituals, workshops, nightly bonfires, dancing, drumming, chanting, signing and many social events including our annual Masked Ball & Sensual Feast.

During this magickal time, gay, bisexual, queer and questioning men will create a pagan town where we work powerful magick together, worship the Gods, drum and dance around the fire, chant, sing and be who we are at our core. We'll leave behind the bar attitudes and judgements that fragment our community and join together as community of spiritually minded men who love men. We'll explore our spiritual natures and our place in the universe through numerous workshops, rituals, concerts and social events. And at the end of Coph Nia, we'll return to the larger community changed and empowered, ready to minister to the larger gay community. Won't you join us?

Glow stick labyrinth from Coph Nia 2012

A previous festival at Our Haven set up a beautiful glow stick labyrinth prior to Coph Nia 2012. They left it for us to use as a gift. The practice of meditatively walking a labyrinth is a very old spiritual practice.
