Coph Nia

A Mystical Gathering for Gay and Bisexual Men

I am the Lord of the Double Wand of Power; the wand of the Force of Coph Nia--but my left hand is empty, for I have crushed an Universe; & nought remains. -- Liber AL vel Legis 3:72

Welcome to Coph Nia - A New World Awaits...

Imagine for a minute that you could live in a village of only gay, bisexual, queer and questioning men. Now imagine that in that same village, these men were all Pagan, Wiccan, or some other form of nature or alternate spirituality. Imagine that in this village--magick is real, people celebrate the cycles of the seasons together, Gods and Goddesses walk among the people, and no judgmental attitudes are known.

This village is Coph Nia. For 5 magickal days, the men of Coph Nia will erect a village of tents at Our Haven near French Lick, Indiana. For 5 magickal days, we'll leave the bar attitudes, the objectification of one another and the cares of outside world behind. Gay, bisexual, queer and questioning men will create a pagan town where we work powerful magick together, worship the Gods, drum and dance around the fire, chant, sing and be who we are at our core. During this time, Coph Nia will offer numerous workshops, rituals, concerts and social events. And at the end of Coph Nia, we'll return to the larger community changed and empowered, ready to minister to the larger gay community. Won't you join us?

What's in a Name?

Coph Nia is a mystical gathering of gay and bisexual men organized and sponsored by the Ordo Aeternus Vovin, a Thelemic, cerermonial magickal order for gay and bisexual men. "Coph Nia" comes from The Book of Law by Aleister Crowley, one of the sacred books of Thelema. While there are many ideas and explanations of what "Coph Nia" means, the one we prefer is that by using gematria, a system of numerology, the name "Coph Nia" equals 831. The Greek word "Phallos" also equals 831. So we're celebrating the "wand of the force of the phallus". An approporiate name for a gathering of gay men.

Who Can Attend?

Coph Nia is open to gay, bisexual, queer and questioning men age 18 and older. We embrace all alternate spiritual paths such as paganism, wicca, druidism, heathenry, shamanism, buddhism, new age thought, Thelema, and more. Participants of all levels of experience are welcome--from those brand new to pagan or magickal practice to those that have been practicing for a life time.
